“You are the light of the world…nobody lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on a stand, and it gives light to the whole house.” Matthew 5:14-15 2021 is Westminster’s Year of Service. We are going to spend this year focusing on what we can do in the church and community. Here’s how it works. We ask everyone to commit to service in two areas:
On Sunday, February 14, we’re having our first Service Commitment Sunday. We’re going to commit during worship to service for God this year by turning in commitment cards. It’s like a stewardship campaign for service, because our time is at least as great a gift from God as our money.
Unlike our normal stewardship campaigns, this commitment is only for six months. That’s not because we only want you to serve half a year; it’s because sometimes people choose a service opportunity that isn’t a good fit. While your community service may change monthly, your church service lasts for six months. Twice a year, everyone will have a chance to re-commit to the service of their choice.
What is 2021 going to bring? You decide that now. With your faithfulness and God’s grace, maybe it will bring a little bit of Good News for the world.
