How is it with your soul these days? Do you feel dry, discouraged, spiritually tired? Does faith keep taking a backseat in your busy life? Do you feel disconnected from God?
Perhaps what you need is a spiritual discipline. Disciplines are ancient practices that Christians have followed for many years to help put us in the presence of God. Practices like prayer and Bible study are familiar to most of us. But what about fasting? Simplicity? Meditation?
In this series, we’ll unpack a dozen different disciplines on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. By the end of the series, you should have a toolbox of disciplines that you can utilize in your faith walk.

Sessions are free, but please RSVP so we can have enough food for everyone!

Wednesday night sessions: 6:30-8pm, RSVP required
Sunday mornings: Sermons delivered at the 9:05 and 11:05 services

All are welcome

THE WEDNESDAY SERIES

Picture
February 21: Prayer.

Every Christian prays, but how much have you thought about your prayer life? Is there a kind of prayer that might better fit your personality and season of life?

Picture
February 28: Study.

Do you study with your head or your heart? Join us to learn how to study in a way that is spiritually transformational.

Picture
March 6: Service

We know service is important for Christians, but did you know it is supposed to bring you closer to God? In this session, we talk about service that grows us spiritually as well as helps others.

March 13: Confession

If there’s a discipline scarier than fasting, it’s confession. But scary or not, confession is an essential part of any Christian’s regular practice. In this session, we’ll learn about different ways to examine, confess, and receive forgiveness.

Picture
March 20: Meditation

Christian meditation is an interesting cross between prayer, worship, and sometimes journaling. In this session, we’ll learn about and experience a few kinds of Christian meditation.

Picture
March 27: Holy Week Worship

In this special Wednesday night session, Kelton Washington will lead a special Holy Week-themed night of worship as we remember Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross.

THE SUNDAY SERIES

February 18: Introduction to Spiritual Disciplines
Picture
February 25: Fasting

Believe it or not, fasting has been a practice embraced by nearly every generation of Christians until the modern one. In this sermon, we’ll learn why people fasted, how they fasted, and how we can incorporate this powerful discipline today.

Picture
March 3: Simplicity

We’ll unpack the countercultural message of paring down to our needs rather than expanding to our wants.

Picture
March 10: Solitude

We’ll explore the extraordinary effect solitude has on our ego, our desires, and our feelings of dissatisfaction with life.

Picture
March 17: Fellowship

It is never good for Christians to try to be Christian alone. We’ll explore the concept of life with others as an intentional, spiritually nourishing practice.

Picture
March 24: Worship

Join us this Palm Sunday as we consider what it means to worship in a way that grows our souls and brings us closer to God.

Picture
March 31: Celebration

It’s Easter Sunday, so it’s time to celebrate! And did you know celebration itself is a spiritual discipline? Join us this Sunday as we learn how our practice of joy can bring us closer to God.
