September 14: Answering the Hard Questions, Dr. Philip Talon.

September 21: Saying the Right Thing, Wick Stuckey. Have you ever been with someone going through a crisis and not known what to do? What to say? How to help and not hurt? In this session, Wick Stuckey is going to walk us through the fundamentals of caring well during times of grief and crisis.

September 28: Speaking of Faith. We know we’re supposed to talk about our faith, but how do you do it without being awkward? Or saying the wrong thing? Or being pushy? In this session, we’re going to walk through skills to help us speak of faith clearly and easily as a normal part of our everyday conversation.

October 5: Being a Calm Presence in the Culture Wars, Pastor Meredith. What’s a Christian’s role in a world set afire? How do we best follow Christ’s command to love both neighbor and enemy in our current culture wars? For our closing session, we’ll join together in a gastrochurch-style meal to learn and practice habits of peacemaking in our current cultural climate.

October 5th, at 6:30p Speaker Rev. Meredith Mills Westminster United Methodist Church, Houston ![]() Rev. Meredith Mills joined Westminster UMC on May 1st, 2019. Rev. Meredith Mills has been a United Methodist pastor since 2008. She earned her BA at UT Austin in 2005 and her MDiv at Duke Divinity School in 2008. She has previously served as associate pastor of FUMC Nacogdoches and senior pastor of FUMC Wharton. Her most recent ministry has been the founding and cultivating of gastrochurch--a nontraditional ministry focused on engaging churched and unchurched people in spiritual conversations over food.
Meredith is married to Jordan, and they have a daughter Annabelle June and a son named John. They also have three cats and twelve backyard chickens, so you might get free eggs if you catch her at the right time. She is thrilled to be joining the work of God at Westminster UMC. |
