Christopher C. Carter, Director of Music for Traditional Music

Christopher C. Carter, Detroit native, is the Artistic Founder for Voices of Houston. Voices of Houston was established to preserve the cultural identity and integrity of Negro Spirituals and to build an authentic musical community. Christopher is an educator, musician, and servant leader, who is dedicated using music as a vehicle for positive social change in the world.
He holds his bachelors and master’s in education and is currently completing his doctoral studies in Educational Leadership. Christopher had served as the Director of Music in several spiritual settings and is the current Director of Music for Traditional Worship at Westminster United Methodist Church. During his tenure at Bowling Green State University, Christopher founded Voices at BGSU Concert Choir (2013), an 80-member choral ensemble dedicated to the performance of Negro Spirituals. Christopher has been featured as guest conductor in a variety of musical settings which include the Beverly Thomas Fine Arts Institute and the 2018 Underground Railroad: Spiritual Journey concert featuring Ms. Kathleen Battle.
