Jeff Powers came to us from First United Methodist Church in Teague, Texas where he served for six years. Prior to Teague, he served churches in Lake Jackson, Baytown, and Pittsburg. He has been in pastoral ministry for more than 14 years. He graduated from Brite Divinity School out of TCU with his Master's of Divinity degree. His undergraduate degree in Communications comes from The University of Houston.
Prior to his calling to the pastorate, Powers worked in the newspaper business. He worked at The Houston Chronicle, The Huntsville Item, and The Marshall News Messenger. He was also Publisher of The Observer Newspaper Group serving the Humble-Kingwood-New Caney area.
"I believe that the church should be an exciting, loving place where people encounter Jesus Christ, make new friends and grow as disciples" Powers said. "Westminster is a great setting for that to happen. It is a very loving faith community that has a place for everyone who comes to it."
Jeff and his wife Julie have two children. Christy is a Junior at Texas A&M and John is a Freshman at Sam Houston State.
for Worship, Mission, and Pastoral care
Rev. Suzi Byrd, a native German, joined our team in 2017 and previously served in several multi-cultural churches in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Suzi graduated from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas with a Master’s in Theological Studies in Worship and Sacred Music. Her prior education includes degrees in optometry, vocal performance and vocal pedagogy. Suzi is a sought after clinician for worship, congregational song and the missional church.
Before being called to ministry, Suzi had an extensive career as an opera- and- concert singer performing in the US and Europe. She also taught voice at the University of Texas in Dallas. Suzi believes that in worship we have the opportunity to confess our love for God and one another and as we breathe together and our hearts beat in unison in song, God shapes us to go out into the world to be in mission with God.
Suzi and her two daughters Julia and Isabella enjoy spending time in the outdoors, traveling to Germany, and eating Wiener Schnitzel.

She holds a Master of Divinity Degree and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from McMurry University.
Director of Youth Ministries
John joined the Westminster team in August 2017. Originally from Dallas, John graduated from Baylor University in 2009. He came to Houston in 2013 with the original intention of pursuing a PhD in History. However, he was faced with many obstacles in a very secular department, and realized that his talents would be more useful in ministry. In the Spring of 2015, he began the Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) program at Houston Baptist University, and graduated in December 2017.
John has a real passion for theology and teaching young students solid biblical doctrine. He hopes to pass on his loving for learning Scripture onto his youth.
Prior to joining Westminster’s staff in June 2014, Donna worked in an administrative role at a Presbyterian Church in Abilene, Texas for eight years.
