Music Ministry
Welcome to Music Ministry at Westminster UMC. We are so excited that you found your way to us and would like to extend an invitation to you to participate in any and all of the opportunities we can provide. Singing is a beautiful way of becoming the body of Christ and we believe everybody ought to be part of this. When we sing together we breathe together and our hearts beat together in perfect unison. In Psalm 96 the psalmist proclaims to ‘Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord all the earth’. Notice that there is no qualifier here; all the earth literally means all of us, whether we think we can or cannot sing and we are here to tell you that YOU CAN SING!
Now, that that is out of the way please join our Chancel choir in singing praises to God, leading our congregation in song and learning about God through singing. The Chancel Choir sings an anthem every Sunday in the Traditional service at 11:05 and leads the whole congregation in singing to God. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:15 to 8:55 PM. All are welcome to join, no skills required, just come with the desire to sing. Email Christopher Carter or Suzi Byrd to join our Chancel Choir.

SING TO THE LORD A NEW SONG & MUSICAL FESTIVAL
Children in Kindergarten and up will join together in the Sanctuary at 12:30-1:30 on Sunday, March 17th and March 24th to work on three pieces of music. Then on March 31st, they will join children from other churches in the Galveston area to sing together at Moody UMC. Rev. Suzi Byrd will leave Westminster at 12:30 pm on March 31st and arrive back at 8 pm. Children will need $10 travel money for food and snacks. The cost is $30 per child. Register HERE. |
