Music Ministry

Music Ministry
We are a devoted music program, but more importantly we are a family.  You may find a home in music ministry here at Westminster if you have desired a place to grow, an outlet to serve, worship, and socialize or a way to bring yourself and others closer to the Lord.

For many years, WUMC has strived for a tradition of excellence through our performing arts.  Located in the heart of Houston, Texas our dynamic program consists of praise band, chancel choir, children's choir, and hand bell choir.  Please feel more than welcome to join these incredible people and be a part of our wonderful family!

HIS Praise Team
HIS Praise Team helps lead worship during the 9:15 a.m. Praise service each Sunday.  We are a volunteer team who enjoys praising God.  We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 and are always looking for band members and vocalists that can play and sing by ear.  Presently, we are in need of a drummer who will commit to play and rehearse twice a month.

Organ

Westminster United Methodist Church is proud to have exceptional instruments for our worship experience.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is comprised of wonderful adults who love coming together to sing music, praise the Lord, and enjoy each other's company.  We perform every Sunday in the 11:15 a.m. traditional service with a 10:45 a.m. warm-up in the choir room.  Rehearsals take place in the Mead Music Room (located in the balcony of the church) every Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30.  No musical background is necessary.  You only need the love of music and the desire to sing.  If you can carry a tune, we can unload it!  Just show up unannounced any Wednesday.  We would love to have you!

Children's Music

Choir and chimes are the two main children's ensembles that sing and play during our worship services periodically throughout the year.  Children's music is for children preschool through fifth grade.  This program works on a mixture of both contemporary and traditional music and rehearses every Sunday morning.  Performances take place during one of the services about once a month.  Our goal is to worship through learning, making music and having fun.  If you would like for your child to join the choir, please come to our rehearsal on Sunday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in room A100.

Hand Bell Choir

The Hand Bell Choir is a great group of people who enjoy playing bells. Youth and adults are encouraged to join our choir and grab a bell to ring for the Lord!  Our performances will  take place periodically throughout the year during both the contemporary and traditional services.  No musical background is needed to join this ensemble.  Rehearsals are tentatively scheduled for Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. upstairs in the Mead Music Room.  Please don't hesitate to let us know if you are interested!
